Step 2: Demolition & Grading – The sub-base and pavement must be removed from the area if there is currently asphalt, concrete, or pavers in place. A properly graded pavement will prevent premature deterioration because it will allow water to drain properly.
Step 3: Sub-base & Base Installation – Crushed rocks, recycled asphalt, or concrete from other projects are used to prepare the aggregate sub-base. Project requirements and traffic load determine how to prepare the sub-base. By performing sidewalk and curb repairs, we create smooth, seamless transitions between butt joints and add considerable value to every project we undertake. Once the base course is spread and compacted, the asphalt pavement that will sit on top of it will be stronger and more stable.
Step 4: Asphalt Installation – A wear course, also called a surface course, is a layer of asphalt pavement that is designed to resist environmental wear and tear as well as accommodate traffic loads. We see this layer on roads and parking lots because it is made up of small aggregate, sand, and liquid asphalt (the binder). Once all the asphalt has been laid, the surface needs to be compacted and smoothed.
